CNN: IT'S NOT HILLARY

CNN reporting that a "source close to Hillary Clinton" has said that Clinton has been informed that she is NOT the pick. Looks like the "dream ticket" will not be happening, with Biden remaining the likely pick.

yep. (2.00 / 1)

just heard it... my question is...

the obama campaign has been masterful at media manipulation.  yet - why not mention and/or mange the narrative that clinton was not being vetted before today?

why didnt they manage this build up prior to today?  to me this seems like a huge error.

I agree completely! (none / 0)

They should have leaked the info a few days ago, and they should have at least gone through the motions of "vetting" Clinton. Oh well.

Re: I agree completely! (1.00 / 1)

Most likely the Clintons didn't permit vetting. They probably feared that Obama would just get all of their dirt and then blackmail her into behaving.

THANK GOD (1.00 / 7)

Disaster has been averted, the Clinton dynasty has flamed out.  See you guys in 20 years when Chelsea "has the experience" to be president.

go back to redstate troll. (none / 0)

I am 100% certain (none / 0)

That no one on this site believes I support Hillary in anyway.  But I believe Obama is overplaying his hand at this point if it is anyone other then Clinton.  He has already given up the major publicity that would have come from the evening news and just seems to be playing this wrong.

Re: CNN: IT'S NOT HILLARY (none / 0)

I don't know why some of you are acting surprised.  Obama gave every clue, indication, and hint that he was never going to pick Hillary.

I have actually been pulling for Biden ever since it became apparent that Obama was going to be our nominee. But I am biased and like the senator from Delaware a lot.

im actually relieved... (none / 0)

but just for the sake of honesty...

Obama gave every clue, indication, and hint that he was never going to pick Hillary.

could you please provide some proof of this?

Re: im actually relieved... (none / 0)

man now you want me to find links to stories:p  I am going to be lazy and just point to the way his staff and messaging has been since he has won.  I guess I just never got the impression he was seriously considering her.

For full disclosure, I would have been pumped had he picked her, despite my bias toward Biden.  I just didn't want Bayh or Sebellius.

It was very obvious to those that weren't in total denial.  Denial can be quite blinding.  I'm not saying you are wrong for being in denial.. hell, I'd probably be there to if the shoes were traded.  But yes, it was in plain site.

Re: CNN: IT'S NOT HILLARY (none / 0)

I see where you are coming from, but that's not totally accurate. Instead, I think Obama never gave any clue, indication, or hint that he was going to pick Hillary.

When I think about it, it was always the Press, who kept the Hillary dream alive. To be bluntly honest, I don't think Hillary ever thought she was going to be picked, but she let her advocates keep beating that dead horse, which in turn mislead her supporters into thinking that she had a chance.
Personally, I think she owes her supporters an apology for stringing them along when she knew that Obama wasn't vetting her.

But hey, I understand her logic. Play the victim, and it puts her in a good place for her 2012 run.

What? You don't think she would run in 2012 if Barack was President?

Re: CNN: IT'S NOT HILLARY (none / 0)

I'm happy it is not Clinton. It is just not her fit. I want her back in my state serving me through at least her third term. I am a little disappointed the Obama campaign did not even vet her though. It's almost like they did not consider her. But, that is old news. It is Obama/Biden now and we will likely be doing this all over again in 2016 when no incumbent or VP will be running for President. I highly doubt Biden will run at age 73.

People have been saying for WEEKS/MONTHS (none / 0)

that Clinton will not be offered the spot. It's only recently, when the media needed more "news" to fill up their columns etc, that the idea that she was in the running has gained steam.

Re: CNN: IT'S NOT HILLARY (2.00 / 1)

As a strong Hillary Clinton supporter, I was never convinced that she was the right choice for this ticket electoral calculations aside. After eight years of the Bush-Cheney debacle, we need a strong, cohesive, competent administration that can govern effectively and right the ship of state. Ultimately, Barack Obama needs to choose a running mate that complements him, that he's comfortable with, and can be trusted to form a partnership that will serve the nation well. I believe Joe Biden fits this bill better than Senator Clinton, and I am very pleased with this choice if it comes to be. I love the guy.

That said, if the reports are to be believed, I am not at all pleased with how the Obama campaign (and the Senator himself) handled this situation. A person who receives 18,000,000 votes and a significant plurality of the delegates deserves better than getting the thumbs down through "private channels" to the Obama campaign. Hillary Clinton has served our country and our party with grace and an admirable (and needed) tenacity. She deserves better than what she's getting.

Re: CNN: IT'S NOT HILLARY (2.00 / 2)

I'm assuming that Obama called her himself.  Do you have anything to the contrary?  If he did call her himself, how is that insufficient?

I think the Clintons are getting (2.00 / 2)

some very nice speaking spots. Both of them.

I think we're all going to differ on what constitutes respect, and what is appropriate.

Re: CNN: IT'S NOT HILLARY (2.00 / 2)

My "dream ticket" is the one that wins.

If is IS Biden, he's just as good as Hillary on any issue, and he'll be valuable as part of the team.

No way. No how. No McCain.
